Kansas State Basketball: Wildcats are in control of their seeding
By Chris Taylor
It’s been a decent season for Kansas State Basketball, finishing fourth in the Big 12 has them comfortably in the dance, however they control their own seed.
Kansas State Basketball finished fourth in an extremely scrappy Big 12 this season. Many predicted the Wildcats would be less than Mildcats this season, but they battled through injury and strength of schedule to stand strong at the end of the season.
If the Wildcats can beat TCU in the early game on Thursday, they will have advanced to the semifinals to face either Kansas or Oklahoma State. If they are able to keep it close in the semifinal, an eight seed is a possibility. A blowout on Friday or a loss on Thursday may place the Wildcats around a 10 or 11 seed. Either way Bruce Weber’s team is dancing.

Kansas State and TCU split their series home and home, with TCU winning the latest matchup on the 27th of February. Although the Wildcats have been the more consistent team throughout the season, Thursday’s game against TCU should be no gimme.
If the Wildcats prevail, their next opponent makes for an interesting game Friday. Kansas State won both games against the Oklahoma State Cowboys this season. They scored over 80 points in both of those games. They only scored 80 or more three other times in conference play. Needless to say, the Wildcats can play the Cowboys’ game.
If Kansas, who can not play the Cowboys’ game, manages to find a way without their big man to move to the next round it will be a different story for Kansas State. The Wildcats lost a heart breaker in Lawrence, and failed to show up in the second match. Tournament play brings the best out of lesser teams and the worst out of superior teams, so the regular season means nothing.
No matter the outcome against TCU, Kansas State controls their seeding. Tip-off is at 11:30 Thursday. The longer the Wildcats last the better their seeding will be. It’s a pretty simple formula.

The talent is there for the Wildcats to make a splash. Dean Wade is a special player, just ask any Wildcat fan, he’s special. Wade and Barry Brown are the clear scoring leaders for K State. Cartier Diarra has had a couple solid games this season in really big games.
