As the MLB off-season comes to a close and key players like Mike Moustakas remain unsigned, the winds are changing for the Kansas City Royals.

Dayton Moore has been fairly silent this off-season. When Moore has spoken, he hasn’t said much. With pitchers and catchers set to report soon the signing period is traditionally coming to a close, which could be good news for the Kansas City Royals.

Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer are still free agents. This is a scenario neither the Royals or the two stars thought would be a possibility as their farewell tour was going on at the end of last season.

It seems like fate is possibly bringing the two back to Kansas City, although a bit slow. Hosmer has received interest and reportedly has already received offers from the San Diego Padres and the Royals. The market for Moustakas has been less active however.

Although the need for Hosmer is greater for the Royals at the moment, it’s starting to feel like Moustakas returning to the club is inevitable. Call it a gut feeling. There is no source to link to at the moment, but the longer these two go without signing somewhere else the more likely their return.

It’s possible that signing Moustakas first could add to the attractiveness of returning for Hosmer. Either way, expect the Royals to push down on the pedal a bit faster in the next week or so. Baseball is officially around the corner.

The 2018 season is upon us

Pitchers and catchers report on Tuesday, the 13th of February. The rest of the roster will report on February 18th with full activities starting the next day.

The Royals first spring game is February 24th against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Cactus League. There will be 32 spring games this season. with the first coming March 29th for the Royals against the White Sox at Kauffman Stadium.

Perhaps waiting for their old teammates will be Moose and Hoz? The likelihood of that being the case gets better and better with every passing day. Expectations for this Royals team will change 180 degrees if either of the two return.

If I were to pick on a scale from 1-10 on the chances Moose returns, with ten being the highest I feel comfortable saying a firm 8. For what it matters.
