Well, I didn’t lie to you. I said the Kansas City Chiefs would focus on defense in this draft and they did just that.

In this mock draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected five defensive players and just two offensive players. The five players on defense all provide areas of need, like at inside linebacker or cornerback.

As for the two offensive players, the Chiefs added an offensive guard and a tight end, both for depth sakes. Tight end obviously isn’t a strong need with Travis Kelce starting there, but the backups behind him are not deserving of being on the team again next year.

We’re still at the point where it’s tough to really gage where the Chiefs are going to go with their draft picks. Once free agency comes and goes, we’ll have a better idea of what the team plans to address in the 2018 NFL Draft.

I did not have Kansas City take a wide receiver in this mock draft, as I don’t feel that’s an area of need right now. The Chiefs have Tyreek Hill, Chris Conley, Demarcus Robinson, Jehu Chesson, and could potentially re-sign Albert Wilson. What’s the point of bringing on someone else when there are other needs to target?
