Kansas City Chiefs 2018 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Deadrin Senat
By Ben Almquist
We are kicking off our 2018 NFL Draft scouting reports with an impressive defensive tackle who has already been linked to the Kansas City Chiefs, Deadrin Senat.
There is no doubt that the Kansas City Chiefs have to get better along the defensive front. That seems strange to say when you consider the talent that they have there. However, teams were still able to run at will against KC in 2017. USF defensive tackle Deadrin Senat may be the kind of guy that can help stop that.
Kansas City already features one playmaker on the defensive line in Chris Jones. Opposite of him, Allen Bailey is a generally reliable player who holds his ground well. Beyond that though, the Chiefs have questions. Bennie Logan is a free agent, and it may be tough to argue that he should stay.
Another name for the mix is Rakeem Nunez-Roches who is a restricted free agent. It seems likely that the Chiefs will tender him, but that still leaves a hole at defensive tackle. Kansas City simply has to find someone who can step in and plug up the middle, while also occasionally making a big play or two.
That’s not easy to find.

NFLDraftScout.com Scouting Report
A lot of Kansas City Chiefs fans probably hadn’t heard of Deadrin Senat until the past couple of weeks. The USF defensive tackle made his mark at the East-West Shrine Game by absolutely owning any and every offensive lineman who faced him. It was such a dominant performance that Senat felt good enough to skip the Senior Bowl.
Deadrin Senat is a powerful interior lineman who holds up well at the point of attack. He’s got a quick-twitch that allows him to get off the ball quickly and gain his leverage. Senat can get into the backfield and create havoc, especially if he isn’t getting double-teamed. Tenacious as a pass rusher and can get to the quarterback.
Stat To Know: Deadrin Senat racked up 6 sacks in 2017.
The big knock on Deadrin Senat is his lack of height. At just 6’0 tall, Senat can get swallowed up by larger offensive linemen. His lack of height also prevents him from being a threat to knock down any passes or disrupt the passing lane. He is generally considered a two-down lineman who would likely come off the field in passing situations.
Chiefs Have Been Linked Early On
The big news with Deadrin Senat is that the Kansas City Chiefs have already been linked to him. Tony Pauline of NFLDraftAnalyst.com listed the Chiefs and Bills as two teams that appear to have an interest. Senat clearly fits a major hole in the Kansas City defense right now, so that makes a lot of sense.

Most draft sites seem to be calling Deadrin Senat a day two prospect. This is largely due to his short stature that limits his effectiveness. However, Senat is still a very good player. My own study has him as a high second round, or low first round, draft pick for the right team. He looks to fit best in a 3-4 defense as a base run defender.
Kansas City definitely needs to find a difference-maker for the defensive line. For whatever reason, the talent on the Chiefs roster just isn’t resulting in consistent production. There may be other issues involved here, but bringing in new talent seems like the best way to try and fix things. That could start with Deadrin Senat.
It’s good to see that the talent in the draft lines up well with what the Kansas City Chiefs need. Deadrin Senat has the talent to be a very good defensive tackle in the NFL. The Chiefs are in a good position to add him to the roster.
