2018 NFL Draft: 5 Local Juniors

#1 Dorance Armstrong Jr – DE/OLB – Kansas

Of these five players declaring for the 2018 NFL Draft, Dorance Armstrong is clearly the best. The edge rusher from the Kansas Jayhawks is considered by many to be one of the top players at his position group this year. Armstrong figures to be an early target in the NFL Draft.

Current Projection: 4th Round

Most analysts that I have talked to have Dorance Armstrong as an early round talent. So this ranking by NFLDraftScout.com was surprising to me. I’m going to disagree and say that Armstrong should hear his name called on the first day, but may last until early on the second.

As far as his decision to enter the draft goes, there really wasn’t any other choice for Dorance Armstrong. He’s currently projected as a first round talent despite not having an overly productive season. The truth is that the team around him at Kansas was just so bad that he wasn’t even getting opportunities to make plays. His value would have only been hurt by staying

Decision Grade: A+

Underclassmen tend to make a big mistake when they decide to leave school early. The 2018 NFL Draft will see plenty of juniors get selected, but many more that will not have their names called. Those players will be left wondering just what their next step will be. Hopefully that won’t be the case for any of our local prospects.
