Kansas Basketball: Jayhawks storm back and win in Morgantown
By Chris Taylor
In a gutsy comeback, the Jayhawks stole a win against #6 West Virginia in Morgantown. The first in the last five tries for Kansas Basketball.
Down by 13 at the half, it looked as though this was going to be a hard one to finish watching. The Jayhawks came storming back however, and by the final buzzer it was a 71-66 victory for Kansas Basketball.
The Jayhawks have a had a hard time playing in Morgantown of late, in fact, Frank Mason never saw a win there. Kansas had lost the last four contests by 34 total points. West Virginia looked to be on their way to making this game number five in a row at home against the Jayhawks in the first half.

Bad shot selection and zero interior game flustered Kansas in the first half. Shots were not going down, and easy baskets were not found. Sagaba Konate had 5 blocks in the first half, but his presence inside made it seem like every shot attempted he had a hand on. Konate finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks.
Down by as many as 16 in the first half, Kansas went on a 15-3 run to take the lead with under four minutes left. Devonte’ Graham and Svi Mykhailiuk scored a combined 26 points in the second half, with Svi scoring 12 of his 17 points in the final seven minutes.
Resilient
Kansas has now won four in a row on the season. Even though they aren’t playing the prettiest ball fans have seen, they are scraping up wins. This win against West Virginia makes up for the home loss to Texas Tech, which by all rights was unexpected.
Jayhawks fans can breathe a bit easier for the time being. Kansas welcomes Baylor to Lawrence on Saturday before traveling to Norman to face Trae Young and Oklahoma on Tuesday.
Despite all the concern and up and down quality of play, Kansas still sits in prime position to take their 14th straight. What a difference one game makes.

Before the game Bob Huggins handed Bill Self a pull-over to wear during the game, something the two friends had joked about for some time. Perhaps coach Self should put it away until next season’s match up in Morgantown.
