By the end of this week, Zion Williamson will make his decision on where he will play collegiate ball. Bill Self and Kansas Basketball have their fingers crossed.
As a tribute to his mother, Zion Williamson will make his decision on her birthday, January 20th. Kansas Basketball would love for that decision to be Lawrence, Kansas. Though he has mentioned he still has yet to decide, Kansas is still in the running.
The tribute to his mom says a lot about a young man. A man who loves and respects his mother has a good head on his shoulders. It shows selflessness, loyalty and respect.
Zion has the whole country watching him, critiquing every move he makes, every shot he takes, and each earth-shaking dunk he slams down. Rated as the number 3 overall prospect by 247sports, one may wonder why Zion isn’t the top prospect of the 2018 class. With all the attention and media coverage he has received, many may not know the two young men ahead of him. R.J. Barrett and Cameron Reddish are those two, both being Duke commits.

Kentucky, North Carolina and South Carolina both made trips to visit him last week in a last-ditch effort to rope him in. He never made official visits to Clemson or South Carolina, but took several trips to see both.
Duke and Kansas both appear on the outside looking in, but many times those “crystal balls” are more like granite. Andrew Wiggins surprised the nation when he decided on Kansas, so the hope is strong that Zion does the same.
Selling Kansas
So why would Zion choose Kansas? Would it be too cocky to just say “Because…. it’s Kansas”? Probably so, in that case let’s go over some reasons why he would choose to come here instead of any of those schools East of the Mississippi.
For now, Kansas has the #1 recruiting class of 2018. If Zion chooses the Jayhawks, Kansas will be almost, unfairly, unbeatable.
Kansas would provide national exposure, as the program has become a staple for Big Monday on ESPN, as well as just about every game beyond the exhibition games are televised.
Bill Self. He alone can work wonders with his guys. Big men especially. It may be my biased opinion, but the argument could be made that he prepares these young men better for the next level than any other coach in college.
Kansas University in itself would be a final sell. Not necessarily just the education aspect, but the social aspect. Zion will be the big man on campus wherever he chooses to play. At Kansas, he will be royalty, especially if the conference streak is still alive, even more so if they win a championship while he is here.

My two cents, Kansas would fall in love with Sharonda Sampson, his mother, as well. She would be treated as royalty along with her son. She helped mold Zion into the young man he is today, and Kansas University would definitely show her their appreciation.
