The Kansas football program stays red-hot in recruiting with another top recruit puttting ink on his letter of intent. Anthony “Pooka” Williams, a Louisiana prospect will be a part of the program.

A four star recruit running back, and a five star athlete, according to ESPN.com, Anthony Williams adds a new dynamic to the Jayhawks struggling offensive system. His shiftiness, and explosion running the football will help the Kansas Jayhawks build around something special.

Williams, out of Hahnville High School, decided to stick with his committment to the Jayhawks, despite having offers from schools such as LSU and Nebraska. Williams made his committment in February to play football in Lawrence.

Williams adds on to the Jayhawk momentum this offseason after Corione Harris stuck with his committment as well. Adding Williams is a step in the right direction for the Kansas football program.

Joining players such as Khalil Herbert, and Dom Williams, the backfield for the Jayhawks all of the sudden sounds convincing. Herbert had a breakout season last year with 615 total rushing yards. Freshman Dom Williams is a former four-star recruit out of Texas, and has a bright future. Williams adds just another weapon to the Jayhawks, which has been a lacking element for the Jayhawks.

Head coach David Beaty added former TCU offensive coordinator Doug Meacham to the staff last season. There was glimpses of a winning philosophy for the Jayhawks, they just didn’t have the right players on the field.

With Williams joining KU, things on the offensive side of the football could start changing for the better. Williams adds another option in the backfield, and in the years to come, the Big 12 will know his name, as will the rest of the country.

Despite all of the negative discussions revolving around Beaty during another disappointing season, he was able to still create a terrific recruiting class. Give him credit in that department, as Kansas football has not been able to hang their hats on much during Beaty’s time in Lawrence.

Williams, along with Harris, are a few names that Kansas football fans need to keep an eye on. An incredible running back in this recruiting class give Jayhawk fans something to be excited about for the future.

The recent one win season was disappointing for the program. Anthony Williams being in the mix next season should instill some confidence that the Kansas Jayhawks are heading in the right direction.

The 5’9″, 165 pound running back out of Louisiana stayed faithful to the Jayhawks, and with that being said – expect Williams to have an incredible career with Kansas football.
