The Kansas basketball team will finish off their non-conference schedule with a trip to the west coast to play the Stanford Cardinal.
For the third time this non-conference season, the Kansas basketball team will face off against a school from the Pac-12 Conference. The Kansas Jayhawks are hoping their matchup against the Standford Cardinal will produce better results than when KU played Washington and Arizona State.
The biggest obstacle the Jayhawks must overcome is the game against Stanford will be on the road. While it is technically at a neutral site, it is a similar situation as KU playing at the Sprint Center. The only other true road game Kansas has played came last weekend when they barely escaped Nebraska with a win.
The Jayhawks are still dealing with some depth issues, but it now appears as if Silvio de Sousa may join the Kansas basketball team in time for the open of the Big 12 season next week. According to CBS Sports, De Sousa is putting the finishing touches on his academic prep career.
"Sousa, a 6-foot-9, 242-pound prospect, is on track to satisfy his academic requirements at IMG Academy this week after reclassifying and would only need clearance by the NCAA."
Kansas is also hoping the Billy Preston situation will be resolved by next week’s game against Texas. If he gets the green light to play, Preston should offer immediate help along the depleted frontline. It will take De Sousa some time to learn the offensive and defensive schemes since he is at least six months behind.

KANSAS BASKETBALL NOTES
Once again, the Kansas basketball team looked really good against a low major patsy. The Jayhawks demolished the Omaha Mavericks Monday, 109-64.
The goal in this final warm-up for conference play against a Power Five school is to play well and win convincingly. Another poor outing against a Pac-12 school could be a scary omen for this team.
Sam Cunliffe made his Allen Fieldhouse debut against Omaha, scoring nine points, recording two rebounds and two assists in 20 minutes. Getting some playing time was key, and now he should provide some much-needed depth.

Azubuike is shooting 77.6 pe4rcent from the field. He could miss his next 54 shots and still be shooting 50 percent. At the rate he gets dunks, he might shoot over 70 percent for the season, which would be crazy.
Of course, as he faces bigger and better competition against Big 12 foes, those shots will be challenged more and become harder to make at such a high clip. He has improved his offensive arsenal already this season so hopefully, he will continue to score when conference play begins next week.

The Kansas basketball team needs to use this match-up against the Stanford Cardinal, and the ensuing days after the holiday, to prep for conference play. Their performances have been uneven of late, but hopefully, they will hit their stride against the Big 12.
