Following the loss to the Jets, Marcus Peters took most of the heat from Kansas City Chiefs fans and media for his self-ejection after tossing a referee’s flag.

Update: Peters was suspended one game by the Chiefs and will miss the Raiders game. Giving both Steven Nelson and Phillip Gaines more playing time on the field. original piece written on December 5th, 2017.

Chiefs fans have found a scapegoat in Marcus Peters it appears. Why not target one of the best cover corners the NFL has ever seen, since quarterbacks rarely do. This kid isn’t even close to being considered a veteran and already has the respect of opposing quarterbacks, since last season. He’s only in his 3rd season.

Marcus has done plenty to rub different fans wrong in different ways. Refusing to stand for the National Anthem is a big one, even though he never really kneeled. His budding friendship with Marshawn Lynch of the rival Raiders is another, family or not Chiefs blood is thicker than family blood right? His production is down in many fans opinion, pay no attention to the fact they no longer throw his way.

Then there is the pure hatred for a man none of us know on a personal basis. Peters became the focal point of discussion for an act he made which had no weight in affecting the outcome. No hate for Bob Sutton, Steven Nelson, Frank Zombo or Bennie Logan, instead the masses went after Peters.

Yes he walked off of the field, and you, I and everyone else thought he had been ejected as well. Apparently he hadn’t, the Jets declined his penalty, and the defense never saw the field again. In fact, I don’t blame him even if he knew he wasn’t ejected.

Hate is a strong word

There will come a day when every anti-Peters person will complain about not having a good corner on his side when he leaves. Yes, when his contract is up, he will leave. Never in my life have I seen someone attacked as much as Marcus when he has no part of the teams struggles. I would leave to. Congratulations on pushing him out of town.

He’s done plenty to make me upset in his short career, but none has made me wish he was gone. Imagine how bad the defense would be if opposing quarterbacks had both sides of the field to pick on. So many players and coaches to be upset at and this is the guy?

How about Zombo playing flag football in a tackle football game? Logan on that field goal? How about Nelson with two, two holding penalties at the end. What about Sutton’s defense as a whole not stopping the New York Jets at all, the whole dang game.

The Chiefs are beyond self-control. Too often we see these guys just walk off the field with an ah shucks attitude. Where is the leadership? Eric Berry would be in these guys grill chewing them up and spitting them out. No emotion from Derrick Johnson, Justin Houston, nothing from anyone, other than Marcus Peters.

Please use caution when looking for someone to blame. At the very least blame those that are obvious for the teams defeat. I welcome you to convince me Marcus Peters is the reason our defense sucks, if you can, I will gladly retract my statements and mention you in my rebuttal.
