Wichita State Volleyball: Shockers to Host First Two Rounds of NCAA Tourney
By Eric Hogan
Wichita State Volleyball’s historic undefeated first season in the American Athletic Conference culminates with bid to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament.
The 20th ranked Wichita State Volleyball Team has finally been rewarded for their hard work and determination. All they had to do was go undefeated in a new, more powerful conference. Chris Lamb’s Lady Shockers will host their first ever NCAA tournament at Charles Koch Arena Friday, December 1st.
The Shockers’ first round match up will be against Radford at 8:00 P.M. on Friday Night. While Radford was the runner-up in the Big South Conference this year, it was their win against High Point in the conference tournament, along with their 25-4 record that helped punch their ticket to the big dance.
However, the Lady Shox will have to wait for Kansas (22-7) to take on Missouri (20-11) before they are allowed to take the court. The Jayhawks & Mizzou play at 6 PM on Friday evening, also at Charles Koch Arena. The winner of Radford & Wichita State will advance to face the winner of Kansas & Missouri on Saturday, December 2nd at 7:00 P.M.

#19 Kansas should be heavily favored in their match up vs Missouri. The Tigers have not defeated a ranked opponent this season. The Lady Jayhawks have knocked off ranked opponents Kentucky, Purdue, Iowa State & Baylor.
#20 Wichita State is also heavily favored against Radford, which sets up a power house match up between two of the top 20 teams in the country. While Radford and Mizzou fans are all looking for an upset this weekend, Kansas natives are chomping at the bit to see the two local powers collide on Saturday.
State of Kansas Representing
Regardless of who wins of Friday, we are sure to see some outstanding volleyball all weekend. The Shocker Faithful have been packing Charles Koch Arena all season long. WSU boasts attendance among the top 10 in the country for volleyball.

With their biggest home match in school history about to take place, I would not be surprised to see the Roundhouse packed with more volleyball fans than ever before. Also, with Lawrence, Kansas being just a couple of short hours away, you can bet that if both teams from the state of Kansas advance, there are going to be records set at Charles Koch Arena on Saturday.
