Mizzou Coaching Finally Competent Again
It’s no shocker than one of the biggest doubts pertaining to the Missouri Tigers
in recent years has been coaching.
The first year of Barry Odom’s tenure was disappointing to say the least. As far as the tenure of Kim Anderson, well, the less said about those days, the better.
Starting in 2017, we’ve seen a stark turnaround for both football and basketball.

Kim Anderson was told shortly before the SEC Basketball Tournament his services would no longer be required. While that was cause for optimism among Tiger fans, black and gold faithful really didn’t get on board until the hiring of Cuonzo Martin.
Of course, Martin’s hiring will likely always be linked to the commitment of Michael Porter Jr. That one event guarantees Mizzou will be looked at in a different fashion by recruits for some time to come.
The story of Barry Odom’s tenure is well-known at this point. However, it’s an amazing feeling to finally see stability in the football program again. The once-proud program has seemingly been laboring since Gary Pinkel’s final season in 2015.

The true test for both coaches will be in 2018 and beyond. Can they continue to build upon their successes or have we already seen the best either has to offer? For the sake of Tiger fans, I hope the former is true. For now though, fans should just reflect upon the current state of the Missouri Tigers and be thankful.
