Kansas City Royals included in Fandom 250 nominations
The Kansas City Royals have a very passionate fan base. As such, they have been included in FanSided’s annual Fandom 250. The Royals were announced as one of 11 MLB teams that are a part of the 250 this year.
Every year, FanSided does a Fandom 250 ranking, which basically takes the 250 biggest things in sports and entertainment and counts them down from 250 to number one. The MLB teams for the Fandom 250 have been announced and the Kansas City Royals are included in those 11.
When the Kansas City Royals started to improve in 2013, the fans began showing up big. The fans continued to be visible when the team went on a postseason tear in both 2014 and 2015, and played a part in the Royals winning the World Series in 2015.
During the 2015 season, Royals fans let their voices be heard, especially during the All-Star Game voting that summer. At one point, the entire American League starters (minus Mike Trout) were members of the Royals. While that result didn’t stick, the Royals still had seven guys in the All-Star Game that year.
After the KC Royals won their first World Series in 30 years, the people of Kansas City rejoiced. They filled the streets of downtown Kansas City for the World Series parade and then packed in front of a stage for a rally in which Jonny Gomes delivered an exhilarating speech that thanked the fans for being as diehard as they were.

While the last few years haven’t resulted in playoff appearances, the fans still showed up. Expectations will be tampering off with the likely losses of some big players, but Royals fans will still be there for their team.
The other MLB teams up for the Fandom 250 are the Astros, Cardinals, Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Indians, Mets, Red Sox, and Yankees. The Astros and Dodgers make sense, as both teams made it to the World Series this year and the fans showed up in masses to root for their teams.
The Cardinals, Cubs, Red Sox, and Yankees all have diehard fan bases, so those nominations aren’t surprising. The Giants had a down year, but typically their fans are pretty into their team (and why not with three World Series in six years). The Indians and Mets are a little bit of a surprise, but the Mets are in New York and the Indians did have a really good regular season.
Will the Kansas City Royals make the cut for the Fandom 250? We’ll find out on December 12th when the rankings go live.
