K-State gets to head back to the friendly confines of Manhattan to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers in a game that kicks off at 2:30 next Saturday. It should be a fascinating game as it’s potentially the best chance to clinch a .500 record and a bowl invitation. I say that, however, with WVU coming off a home victory over Iowa State. WVU also is tied for third in the Big12 and carries a 6-3 overall record.

To further complicate matters, K-State will go into the week with an uncertain quarterback situation. I suspect, again as an internet doctor, that Alex Delton will not be ready in time. With a second head injury in two weeks, I actually hope he takes some time to get it all sorted out. With internet rumors swirling that Jesse Ertz is almost assuredly done for the year, that leaves Skylar Thompson and (checking depth chart for 4th string QB) RS So Walk-on Hunter Hall. Let’s hope Offensive Coordinator Dana Dimel doesn’t decide to run the quarterback 25 times this week.

With remaining games at Oklahoma State and then at home against Iowa State, I think we all would like to see K-State step up and lock-in the bowl game invite.
