Mizzou Football: Time for Tigers to go on a winning streak
The Mizzou football team hasn’t been very good this year, but they have the opportunity to win their second straight game on Saturday.
With a 2-5 record and a fifth place spot in the SEC East, this season hasn’t been very cheery for the Missouri Tigers. Many expected this offense to be a juggernaut and always keep MU in games no matter what, but that simply hasn’t been the case.
This weekend, however, Mizzou has a chance to win their second straight game, which is certainly something. Missouri won their first game of the year back in early September, but then dropped five straight games (four coming against SEC opponents).
Last week, Missouri finally rebounded, creaming the Idaho Vandals to the tune of 68-21 during Homecoming weekend. It was a win that the Tigers desperately needed and that will hopefully push them back into competitive mode.
Mizzou football could certainly go on a tear to end the year.
With the Connecticut Huskies on the schedule this Saturday, the chances are good for a second straight Tiger win, even if this game is on the road. Missouri is a better team than the Huskies are and their offense should deal UConn fits.
The fact that MU has only won two games so far this year is disappointing to say the least. They’ve had some winnable games for sure, like against Kentucky and South Carolina, but have failed to capitalize on their opponents.
Last week we saw the Mizzou offense come to life. Sure, it was against the Idaho Vandals, who don’t exactly frighten anyone, but a good offensive showing is a good offensive showing. Perhaps this will be the wake up call that the Missouri Tigers needed.
The rest of the schedule shakes up like this:

There are certainly some winnable games in that bunch and Mizzou football could certainly go on a tear to end the year. They had a loaded schedule in the first half with games against Auburn and Georgia and now will have a little bit easier go of it.
Florida and Tennessee have both vastly disappointed this year. While Vanderbilt knocked off Kansas State earlier this year, we’ve seen that the Wildcats weren’t all that good to begin with, so was that win all that impressive? Arkansas is also a beatable team for sure.
It hasn’t been a fun ride so far, but the Missouri Tigers could have a nice finish to the 2017 season. All they need is four more wins in order to make a bowl game and that’s definitely doable.
