It’s rare to have must-win games this early in the season. The Kansas City Chiefs will have faced three straight opponents desperate for a win.

The Kansas City Chiefs started the season off as hot as a firecracker. The unusual event of facing good teams desperate for a win has cooled the Chiefs off a bit.

Thrown to the wayside by the National media, Kansas City no longer has the pressure of being the “best” in the league. In fact, some have multiple teams the Chiefs have already beaten ranked ahead of them.

The unique way the 2017 schedule has played out has put the Chiefs in a position of circumstance during the month of October.

After Monday night they will have faced three straight opponents who were desperate to turn things around.

Desperation is usually an emotion that doesn’t come until later in the season. The best reality television on earth has that anything can happen feel to it however.

The Pittsburgh Steelers

The week before the Steelers were scheduled to play the Kansas City Chiefs, Ben Roethlisberger had possibly the worst game of his career.

His post game  comments of “not having it anymore” had the football world foaming at the mouth.

Yet, one week after that horrific performance against Jacksonville, the Steelers had a date with the undefeated Chiefs.

The morning talk shows were on the verge of crowning Pittsburgh’s season over. Sitting at 3-2, with bad losses to the Chicago Bears and the Jaguars, it was more about individual performance than the overall record.

LeVeon Bell had yet to have a complete game, Big Ben had not produced as expected. The Steelers were just off.

That is until they played the Chiefs. The Steelers needed to win that game for all the possible reasons.

Each question mark the Steelers had before the game was answered afterward.

Each player who had underperformed went above and beyond expectations.

In a game that meant much more to Pittsburgh’s season than the Chiefs, the Steelers got what they needed.

The Oakland Raiders

This was definitely a must-win game for the Oakland Raiders.

Coming into their game with Kansas City, the Raiders were 2-4 on the season. A far cry from what all the “experts” had predicted.

The injury to Derek Carr had a little to do with their record, but the struggles were there well before he went down.

This game was similar in the manner of players not meeting expectations. Earlier in the week a person could find plenty of “What’s wrong with Amari Cooper” articles circling the web.

Right on cue, Cooper had his breakout game against the Chiefs.

This game was mainly a must-win due to the fact Kansas City is in the same division, with three fewer losses, and the Raiders had not beat them in the past two years.

A loss against the Chiefs would have almost set their season in stone as a failure.

The Raiders prevailed, given a few extra chances at the end of the game due to cheating on the field.

For the moment it saved Oakland’s season.

The Denver Broncos

So this game hasn’t happened yet, but this us definitely a must-win game for the Broncos.

Both of these teams come into Monday night on two game skids. The Broncos have been beaten by teams desperate for a win as well.

The New York Giants got their first win of the year against Denver, and the L.A. Chargers stayed alive in the AFC West with a shutout last week.

The mood is different in the two locker rooms. Denver is trying to avoid becoming a sinking ship, while Kansas City still has a positive outlook on things despite losing the last two.

This is another game where the Chiefs will be facing a team desperate to turn things around.

The Broncos have one of, if not the best defense in the game. The Chiefs have the Kingdom.

In Closing

The Kansas City Chiefs have the chance to really put a damper on the Broncos season Monday night.

The Broncos have the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots after they face the Chiefs.

These are two teams the Chiefs have beat and two teams the country think is better than Kansas City.

This is a perfect game to get back on track for the Chiefs. The Broncos could find themselves out of contention by week 10.

The Chiefs can right all their wrongs from the last two weeks with a good showing this week.

Unfortunately Kansas City has become the team to beat if you want to turn your season around.
