The Kansas City Chiefs will square off against the Houston Texans in week five of the regular season. The Chiefs are 4-0 and the Texans are 2-2, but make no mistake… This will be a tough game.
Last year the Kansas City Chiefs traveled to Houston in week two of the season and looked bad. The Chiefs would later go on to only lose three more games in the regular season and locked up the two-seed in the AFC playoffs.
My point being that sometimes it’s not what team you play, but WHEN you play them. The Texans are coming off an absolute smackdown of the Tennessee Titans last week and appear to have righted the wrong with whatever was effecting their team.
In week one, Houston got embarrassed by Jacksonville of all teams and didn’t hesitate to make a move at the quarterback position. Tom Savage was no more as the Texans starter and in came rookie Deshaun Watson to save the day. It’s worked out well for Houston so far, as Watson has looked pretty good in his three starts.
It’ll be up to the Chiefs to make Watson uncomfortable and not let him scramble around and make big plays out of the pocket. Doing that will be tough, but this will be the first real tough defense that Watson has faced, so it’ll be interesting to see how that plays out on Sunday night.

The Chiefs have been on fire offensively, but their offensive line doesn’t instill confidence in anyone, as two starters will be on the sideline. A bunch of backup linemen facing a stout Texans defensive front scares me, not going to lie.
Unlike last year, the Chiefs don’t need their defense or special teams to score a touchdown in order to win games. The offense has shown their capable of winning games on their own, but how long can that last for? The Chiefs haven’t turned the ball over since Kareem Hunt fumbled on the very first possession of the season.
In sports, there’s something called being “due”. Being due simply means that it’s time for whatever hasn’t happened to you to happen. The Chiefs haven’t turned the ball over, so they’re due for a turnover. The Chiefs haven’t lost a game, so it’s time to lose a game.
With a fired up Texans squad on the agenda this Sunday, I could see the Chiefs being due to lose in week five. Houston is, to quote Sergio Dipp, having the time of its life right now. The Astros are up two games to zero in the ALDS, the Texans just put up nearly 60 points last week, and this game will be in primetime. A lot is going in Houston’s favor and that could make a tough game even tougher for the Kansas City Chiefs.
What do you think, Chiefs fans? Are you confident in week five?
