The Kansas City Chiefs had one of the most boring color rush uniforms in 2017. Here’s to hoping their outfits are a little more flashy this year, even if that does shy away from what this organization tends to do.

I have no shame in admitting that I’m one of the few people who actually likes the NFL color rush idea. I’m sure the players and the coaches hate it, and most of the fans probably don’t care, but it’s cool to give NFL teams a different uniform to wear once a season.

These color rush uniforms are worn during the Thursday Night Football games (well, most of them anyway) and can be hit or miss. Sometimes a team lucks out with a really cool color rush assignment, like the the Broncos and Chargers last year, both having two of the coolest ones in the entire league.

On the other hand, however, some teams get stuck with incredibly ugly attire, like the Jacksonville Jaguars have the last two seasons. Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles voiced his opinion on his displeasure with Jacksonville’s color rush jerseys a year ago and most would agree that those mustard yellow color rush uniforms were hideous.

I was disappointed a year ago when the Kansas City Chiefs didn’t spice up their color rush selection. The Chiefs hosted the Raiders on Thursday Night Football last year and as such, wore all red in that game for their color rush. The Chiefs had donned those same exact jerseys before, so it wasn’t anything special. If you owned a Chiefs red jersey, then you already owned the color rush attire.

Chiefs fans deserve something a little outside the box this year. No, I’m not saying that the KC Chiefs should wear black jerseys or anything outlandish like that. They especially can’t wear black this year due to playing Oakland on Thursday night again, but what about some shade of yellow?

Over a year ago, a prank of color rush uniforms were leaked and it had the Chiefs wearing bright yellow jerseys. Most fans would panic at the thought of that, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it. It’d be something new!

Kansas City will be the away team for Thursday night this season, so they’ll probably just end up wearing all white uniforms, but maybe the designs will be different. Several teams wore all white for their color rush attire last year and their uniforms looked pretty cool. The Raiders in particular had nice jerseys last year and so did the Saints (even if they did look like the white Power Ranger outfit).

Again, fans likely don’t care about the color rush gear and I’m not even entirely sure that any will be changed for this season, but it’d be cool to see something different from the Kansas City Chiefs. They’re usually a very traditional team when it comes to their uniforms, but it’s time to give the fans something flashy!

What do you think, Chiefs Kingdom? Do you care at all about the color rush apparel?
