The Kansas City Chiefs weren’t favored by many to win this one, but they did just that. The Chiefs danced out of New England with a 42-27 victory and all was good in Chiefs Kingdom… Well, minus the Eric Berry injury.

This victory reminded me a lot of the 2011 win against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers had been undefeated to that point of the season and nobody gave Kansas City a chance to win. The Chiefs did the unthinkable though and handed the Packers their only loss that season.

More from KC Kingdom

This year, a lot of people were clamoring for the Patriots to go 16-0 on the year and that won’t be happening now, thanks to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs also put the smackdown on New England three seasons ago at Arrowhead on Monday Night Football, so this was a nice little reminder of that glorious evening.

For KC Chiefs fans, we saw everything we needed to see to believe in this group. The defense had its troubles early on, allowing the Patriots to score on their first drive of the game, but settled in nicely. The defense stopped New England on several key fourth downs and looked to have a nice flow throughout.

As for the Chiefs offense, holy eff, man. None of us expected Smith to out duel Brady. None of us expected Kareem Hunt to have THAT kind of night. None of us expected Tyreek Hill to be left alone down the field by himself and for Smith to MAKE that throw! It was a night of “Oh wow!” for Chiefs fans when it came to the offense.

I didn’t pick the Chiefs to win, but after Thursday night, I believe in this team. They took down the defending Super Bowl champions IN New England on the night that they weren’t supposed to be victorious. The Patriots hadn’t lost an AFC game at home where Brady played the whole game since 2006. ELEVEN FREAKING YEARS. HOLY CRAP.

The Kansas City Chiefs went into Foxboro and did what not many have been able to do. The rest of the NFL should be very afraid of the Chiefs. Very afraid indeed.
