. . Missouri Tigers. DEFENSE. F-

Oh my goodness this was brutal to watch. If the Tigers want to contend in the SEC, then defense is going to have to play a hell of a lot better than they did on Saturday. The defense gave up a total of 492 yards on the day, surrendering 353 receiving yards and 139 rushing yards on the day. Ouch.

Missouri State’s offense might be good in the Missouri Valley Conference, but they shouldn’t be rolling into Columbia and putting up the numbers that they did. It’s just sad for the Tigers and their defense must improve or this team is going to get curb stomped every week by opposing offenses.

If MU’s defense is this bad in the future, then it’s going to be a long season for the Tigers.

Missouri State running back Calen Crowder performed incredibly well, rushing for 124 yards on the ground off of just 11 carries and he also had two trips into the end zone. Crowder had a 75-yard run in the first quarter that made the Tigers look absolutely clueless defensively.

The rest of the defense didn’t do well either, allowing Missouri State quarterback Peyton Huslig to go 24 of 35 for 353 yards and two touchdowns. Huslig started struggling near the end of the game and was picked off in the first half, but the Bears quarterback should not have been able to throw for over 350 yards against an SEC defense.

Simply put – If MU’s defense is this bad in the future, then it’s going to be a long season for the Tigers. Teams like Florida and Tennessee aren’t going to struggle in the second half against a defense this bad. Time to figure out where things went wrong and make adjustments.
