Our next stop on the Kansas City Chiefs 2017 preseason schedule is Cincinnati. The Chiefs will take on the Bengals this week. Keep up with the action and share your thoughts in our live open thread.

We are rolling right along towards the start of the 2017 NFL season. The Kansas City Chiefs, having closed up shop in St Joseph, are traveling to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals. We’ll get an extended look at the starters this week, which means we’ll get a better idea of what this team will look like in 2017.

Last week’s game was a solid one for the starters. Alex Smith led the Chiefs offense down the field for a quick scoring drive. Meanwhile, the defense looked very impres

sive despite being put in some bad positions early. There’s a lot to be excited about from last week’s preseason game.

However, we still have more to find out about this team. This week we will see the starters play all, or most, of the first half before the backups come in. That should give us a very good idea of just how good they are.

What To Watch For

Of course, all anyone is really concerned about right now is new Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The rookie quarterback earned the second string job this week, largely due to his performance against the 49ers. He is scheduled to get a full quarter of work this week, but may get more if the starters are pulled early.

Beyond Patrick Mahomes, the focus this week will be on Alex Smith. There is no denying that Smith was the most impressive of the quarterbacks last week. He showed an aggressiveness that Chiefs fans have been wanting to see for years now. It will be interesting to see if that continues this week.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

We’ve also got position battles at running back, inside linebacker, wide receiver, and cornerback that may see some real movement this week. The Chiefs also have the physically impressive Tanoh Kpassagnon, who seems able to play multiple positions. So there is quite a bit for Chiefs Kingdom to keep their eyes on.
