It appears that the Kansas City Royals aren’t sitting back after their recent big trade. The latest Royals rumors say that KC is still looking for starting pitching.

The Kansas City Royals had their fans, and much of the league, buzzing after their aggressive move to shore up the pitching staff. The trade with the San Diego Padres netted three guys who can help in a variety of ways, while not giving up much in return. However, according to the latest Royals rumors, it appears that KC might not be done looking for starting pitching.

According to baseball insider Jon Heyman, the Royals may still be looking to add a starting pitcher to the rotation. While many thought that Trevor Cahill would fill in the back of the rotation, it appears Kansas City isn’t just content to go with that. Heyman tweeted that Cahill is an effective “swing man” and could end up in the bullpen.

The Royals have been linked to a number of starting pitchers over the past month. However, most of those names have already ended up on other rosters. It will be interesting to see just who it is that Dayton Moore has targeted to come in and help this team.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard this, as ESPN’s Buster Olney reported something similar just a few days ago. Kansas City is apparently seeking to shore up the rotation as they make a push for the postseason. The Royals bats have been better in recent months, but pitching rules the day when fall baseball comes around.

A Big Name In Play?

More from Kansas City Royals

Early Royals rumors tied the team to pitchers like Jaime Garcia and Jose Quintana. Neither of those moves worked out as both are now with new teams. However, it shows that Kansas City is ready to be aggressive. That means there might still be a big name in the works for the team.

The first name that jumps out at anyone following the trade rumors is Rangers star Yu Darvish. Though Texas is still in the mix for the Wild Card, they are on shaky ground as August approaches. Many feel they could be enticed to sell Darvish, who is a free agent after this year. The Royals have as much a chance as anyone else there.

A more likely name though, might be Lance Lynn of the Cardinals. The Royals have already been linked to Lynn, and with the market getting smaller that shouldn’t have changed. The Cardinals aren’t entirely out of their division race, but the door is closing quickly. That makes them more and more likely to sell as we approach the deadline.

Regardless of how this plays out, I’m happy to see Dayton Moore getting

aggressive right now. It’s time for this Royals team to go all in on another World Series run.

The Kansas City Royals have had a remarkable turnaround this season, and now look poised to make another run at the postseason. It’s no surprise that the Royal rumors market has heated up along the way. It’s been a lot of fun to watch as this team went from surefire sellers to now being aggressive buyers.
