The Kansas City Chiefs’ first game of the season will be against the New England Patriots and that will be their toughest game of the year. It’ll probably lead to the Chiefs being 0-1 to start the year.

Not many people are going to give the Kansas City Chiefs a chance in their season opener. That’s solely because their first game of the year will come against the New England Patriots, a team that is seemingly always winning the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs open their season up against the Pats on the road in New England’s first game since their crazy comeback win in the Super Bowl over the Atlanta Falcons. The game isn’t only the Chiefs’ first game of the year, but it’s the first game of the NFL season, which is pretty cool for Chiefs fans.

While this will make me seem like a pessimist, I’m giving the KC Chiefs little to no shot of winning this game. The main reason for that is that Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are just unreal in their roles for the Patriots. Brady will go down as the best quarterback in NFL history and Belichick will be up there in the best coach of all-time category.

The Patriots are the New York Yankees from the late 1990s, winning title after title and not giving anyone else a chance to even sniff a championship. Sure, the Pats went ten years without winning a title, but even during that hiatus, they went to the big game twice.

More from Kansas City Chiefs

It’s easy to hate the Patriots because they have what everyone wants: Championships, an elite quarterback, and the ability to just dominate anyone they play on the field.

The Patriots have gotten even stronger this offseason, acquiring both Brandin Cooks and Kony Ealy through trades. Cooks was an incredible receiver during his time in New Orleans and now gives Tom Brady a legitimate number one target. Ealy, on the other hand, only helps beef up the Patriot defense, which has become a great force over the team’s impressive run.

Any time the Chiefs have to face New England, I usually chalk it up in the loss column. The Patriots are just so much better than everyone else, it’s ridiculous. Brady has somehow gotten even better despite being nearly 40 years old and the Patriots just keep getting richer with talent. When they lose, it’s a big deal because it just doesn’t happen all that often.

When the Chiefs go to Foxboro to kick off their 2017 season, I’m just hoping they compete in the game and not roll over. I guess if nothing else, I’m glad that this game will be done and over with. We’ve all seen the Chiefs over the last few years and they’re very much a “second half team”. Starting 0-1 isn’t the end of the world and especially not if the loss is to the New England Patriots.

What do you think Chiefs fans? Am I being completely pessimistic or do you agree that the Chiefs are going to lose in week one?
