Kansas Jayhawks: Five Biggest Rivals for KU fans
By trevb
It really wasn’t a big surprise (hopefully) for Missouri to be at the top of this list. For years after they stopped playing, Kansas and Missouri fans continue to harp on one another. It’s almost like the games never stopped occurring.

As for the other teams, Iowa State and Kentucky were no brainers from the basketball side of things. Iowa State is always a threat to end KU’s streak of Big 12 titles, and Kentucky is always a threat to beat the Jayhawks in the NCAA Tournament.
When it comes to football, Kansas hasn’t been relevant in close to a decade, but they have their fair share of rivalries. Beating Texas this past season was hilarious and was a great moment for all KU fans.
Missouri and Kansas State, the two local schools, are rivals to Kansas in both sports. The advantage in football usually went to Missouri, but Kansas had the edge in basketball. When both teams were competitive in both football and basketball, man those games were fun!
As mentioned previously, it’s a shame that the Border War is no longer a thing, but maybe someday, it will return.
Pure hate is a powerful thing, and with these rivals there is no shortage of it. Hate is the reason why these teams play hard and compete their best against the Jayhawks. Kansas also brings out their best against their rivals. One thing is for sure, when KU Basketball and KU Football play these teams you know I will be tuning in.
