On the latest episode of ESPN’s Sportscenter, Buster Olney got the ball rolling on the Royals rumors, predicting Mike Moustakas could go to the Boston Red Sox. Other sources have agreed with that same statement.

We all know it’s coming. Eventually, the Kansas City Royals will have to start trading off their core players for more promising prospects. Right now, the Royals are fourth in the very weak AL Central, but have been playing much better recently. Even though the Royals want to contend, however, every blown loss continues to hamper their chances.

The trade deadline continues to draw closer and closer for the Royals, which means that Royals rumors are going to be everywhere. Right now, it looks as if it will mark the end of an era. The Kansas City Royals will have to start evaluating their options at some point. The top players ripe for trading are most likely Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Lorenzo Cain, and Jason Vargas.

That said, ESPN’s Buster Olney believes that Mike Moustakas is a possible solution for the Red Sox’s third base problems. During Olney’s featured take “Buster’s Number”, Olney mentioned the number of home runs that the Yankees and Red Sox have combined.

Following this statement, Olney mentioned the Red Sox problems at third base and then mentioned Mike Moustakas as a solution and a addition to produce more home runs.

At this point, I may have to agree with Buster Olney. The talent that the Red Sox have to offer in exchange for Moustakas may be irresistible. Getting any of the Killer B’s may be a farfetched dream in the trade market, but there are still great pieces on the Red Sox for the Royals to acquire in exchange.

Other than Buster Olney, our other affiliated FanSided fan page, Bosox Injection, is predicting a trade for Moustakas. The Red Sox think Moustakas would be a great solution at third base and bring some much needed consistency to the position.

Right now, Mike Moustakas is having a incredible season. He is on pace to have a career year and could very well break that infamous home run record lingering over the KC Royals organization. Unlike his teammates, Moose has stayed away from the struggles that have plagued the Royals ball club this season.

The Kansas City Royals will eventually realize that contending may be a far fetched option this season. Once that happens, no player is safe from the Royals rumors or from the trading block.

Royals fans, we might be in the next long rebuilding phase for the Royals. The best thing that can be done is just hope Dayton Moore makes all the right decisions on rebuild and trade.

With more promising prospects being farmed out of Omaha like Jorge Bonifacio, the Royals could make another homegrown run to the World Series. Just probably not for a few more seasons.
