Way Too Early Starting Five

Shooting Forward: Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk

Like I said on the first slide, Bill Self usually likes to favor seniority over everything. While Svi needs to improve by a wide margin on perimeter defense, he is a surefire candidate for the small forward position on the starting five. For Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk‘s return, he should be awarded the starting position due to his seniority.

Last season Mykhailiuk had major improvements on offense. He averaged 9.8 points, three rebounds, 1.3 assists, and a 44.3 field goal percentage and became a more reliable player on the court for the Jayhawks.

Svi had some very unfortunate events happen at the NBA Combine that most likely influenced the decision that brought him back to Lawrence.

With his injury and another year to try and become a sure NBA draft pick, Svi decided that returning was best. So, it will be very interesting to see how Mykhailiuk handles his true final season as a Jayhawk. One thing is for sure, he knows exactly what to work on to be an elite NBA prospect.
