KC Royals: Five players to watch in second series vs Yankees

We’re nearly two months into the 2017 season now and the KC Royals haven’t completely fallen out of it, but a lot of that is due to their “weak” division.

I put that in quotations because despite the American League Central not being all that dominant, the Royals have struggled to win games against their divisional opponents. That’s certainly concerning to say the least.

While the Yankees series isn’t a “must win” one for the Royals, it’d be pretty impressive if they could go steal two out of three from New York on their home turf. The Yankees have been playing very good baseball this season, so the Royals need to do what they did to the Orioles last weekend and knock them down a few pegs.

Regarding the pitching match-ups, Vargas needs a bounce back game, Duffy needs to keep dominating, Hammel needs to at least not take his team out of it by the third inning, and hopefully Nate Karns takes the mound for Game 4. He’s been pretty good in his last two outings.
