It hasn’t been a fun start to the season for the Kansas City Royals or their fans, but we’re not even two weeks in yet. The 2014 Royals started off 4-4 and at one point dropped to 4-7. We know how that season turned out.

It’s still too early to be panicking about this team, but the offense is concerning for sure. Had it not been for Liam Hendriks (remember him? He used to pitch here briefly) showing up in the seventh inning, the Royals probably would have been shut out in back to back games.

Kansas City did put up three runs on Thursday night, but they should have had way more. They had eight hits and really should have put the game out of reach in the first inning when they lined four singles to keep the line moving.

The Angels haven’t been a great team over the last few years, but I’m sure in the back of their minds, they remember what the Royals did to them in 2014. The Angels were the best team in the American League that year, but the Royals took care of them in a three-game sweep in the ALDS.

Los Angeles hasn’t sniffed the postseason since. With a star like Trout on their roster, they have the opportunity to get hot at any moment. Let’s hope they don’t start a big winning streak at Kauffman Stadium this weekend.

Overall, the pitching match-ups look okay. Duffy vs Ramirez in Game 1, Nate Karns vs Matt Shoemaker in Game 2, and Ian Kennedy vs Tyler Skaggs in the season finale on Sunday. Duffy needs to be the ace, Karns needs to pitch close to how he did in Houston, and Kennedy needs to limit the walks.

Keep the hope alive, Royals Nation! We’re still early on in the season and this team has a hot streak that’s coming soon… I can just feel it. Maybe Game 3 against Oakland was the first game of a ten-game winning streak. You never know.
