The KC Royals will look to get their second straight series win when they head to Kauffman Stadium for their home opener on Monday. They’ll play Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday against the Athletics.

More from KC Kingdom

There’s been a lot of recent history with the Royals and the A’s. Oakland was the team that the Royals beat in 12 innings in the 2014 Wild Card Game that started this magical ride for Kansas City.

The next season was the whole Brett Lawrie drama, where he slid into Alcides Escobar and injured him in a game. The next night, the late Yordano Ventura beaned Lawrie with a pitch and was ejected. Kelvin Herrera finished things off by throwing behind Lawrie’s head.

Those games seem like such a long time ago and the Royals have changed a lot as a team since then. Lawrie is no longer in Oakland and the bad blood between these two teams have seemingly evaporated. Let’s hope it’s a nice series with no punches being thrown and no one getting intentionally hit with a baseball.

It’ll be nice to the Kansas City Royals finally get to play at home in front of their crazy fans. They’ll have three games against the A’s, three against the Angels, and two against the Giants before hitting the road again.
