KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (27TH OVERALL PICK)

Lastly, we have the Kansas City Chiefs, who might not feel the need to go all in for one of the first round prospects. They have Alex Smith for at least another season and could probably keep him on the team for 2018 too if they so desire.

I feel like this is the perfect time for the Chiefs to take that first round quarterback. Smith could mentor him for a year, or two if necessary, and then hand him the keys to the car for 2018 (or 2019, depending on the situation). It’s a perfect scenario in my head, but that’s not necessarily how it’s going to play out.

The Chiefs also need a running back, they need pass rush help, and they need someone to help stop the run. All of those areas struggled in 2016 and Kansas City might decide that these quarterbacks aren’t worth taking in round one.

I’ll be sad if the Chiefs don’t take a signal caller in round one, but at the same time, it’d be nothing new for me or for Chiefs fans.
