The Kansas City Royals are 0-3 after being swept by American League central rival Minnesota. They have not done much well in their first three games and the fan base is going to have a melt down pretty soon.

First thing’s first, there are 159 games left in the Kansas City Royals‘ 2017 season. That means there’s still a chance that they could go 159-3 on the year. While that’s not likely at all, neither is the option of them going 0-162.

The Royals haven’t played well in their first series, there’s no denying that. The offense managed five runs in three games, the bullpen proved that the curse of the seventh inning really is a thing, and the starters (aside from Danny Duffy) have not been impressive in the least bit.

Kansas City’s offense made the Twins pitchers look like All-Stars, as no one in the bullpen gave up a run during this opening series. It’s pretty embarrassing considering how badly the Royals whooped up on the Twins over the past few years.

The offense managed three hits on Thursday, with Salvador Perez and Mike Moustakas both crushing one-run homers. Alcides Escobar also had an RBI when he scored Paulo Orlando off of a double.

Other than that, the offense isn’t doing anything. Brandon Moss has yet to make contact with anything, Alex Gordon is still struggling at the plate, and Alcides Escobar and Raul Mondesi both have proven why they’re sitting at the bottom of the lineup. Eric Hosmer isn’t doing anything either. No one is.

If it weren’t for Moose hitting two home runs and Perez continuing to perform well at Target Field, this offense could have been mistaken for a minor league team in this first series. Flat-out embarrassing.

The bullpen is atrocious too, not being able to get out of the seventh inning without blowing the game. Thursday’s seventh inning victim was Mike Minor, who had pitched well on Monday and Wednesday, but gave up two runs in the seventh to give Minnesota the lead.

Joakim Soria saw his first action, walking a guy, but not allowing any further damage. Walking batters issue has become a glaring concern, with the Royals walking 23 batters in three games. That’s terrible!

Not only did the Royals get swept in their first series of the 2017 season, but they got swept by the freaking Minnesota Twins. The Twins lost over 100 games last year and are not going to be a good team this year yet they just handed it to the Royals.

Three games is nothing to sweat about, but the way the Kansas City Royals are losing games so far, fans have a right to be pissed. This isn’t okay for a team that just won the World Series two seasons ago. They shouldn’t be dropping off this quickly.

What do you think, Royals fans? Is it time to panic?
