2017 NFL Draft: Bucky Brooks Still Thinks Deshaun Watson to Chiefs
The 2017 NFL Draft is getting closer and NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks continue to voice how great of a fit he thinks the Kansas City Chiefs are for Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson. At this point, could it really happen?
I’ve never seen an analyst get so into one particular pick landing with a team the way that Bucky Brooks is sold on Deshaun Watson landing with the KC Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Recently, Brooks did a “Perfect Pairs” segment for each NFL team. It went into the best picks in the first round and second round for each team, and Brooks thought the Chiefs’ perfect pairs were Deshaun Watson out of Clemson and Montravius Adams, a defensive tackle out of Auburn.
With how often Brooks is linking the Chiefs and Watson together, is there something that we as fans are unaware of? Is John Dorsey looking to trade up to grab Watson or does Brooks just really think that Watson will slide in the first round?
There aren’t a lot of eye popping quarterbacks in this draft, that much is true, but I’d be shocked if the biggest name in the entire 2017 NFL Draft fell into the Chiefs lap at pick 27.

Here’s what Brooks had to say by the way,
"Andy Reid’s track record shows he’s had tremendous success with athletic quarterbacks. I think Watson’s game is similar to the Chiefs’ Alex Smith. This would be a perfect fit for the Clemson QB. He could sit for a while and watch Smith, a guy who’s a winner."
While I’d obviously love to see the Kansas City Chiefs land Deshaun Watson, it just doesn’t seem realistic to me. Here’s a guy who was a Heisman Trophy finalist two years in a row, went to the National Championship Game two years in a row, and won the whole sh-bang this past season.
I just don’t see how a guy like that slides to the end of the first round. I’ll be happy if it does, but I just don’t see it.
As for Montravius Adams, sure, why not? The Chiefs love adding depth along that defensive front and with Dontari Poe residing in Atlanta now, Adams could make sense.
There are other positions that need to be addressed more, but that’s a very “John Dorsey-like” pick.
What do you think, Chiefs Kingdom? Is there any shot that Watson falls to Kansas City at pick 27 or do you think Brooks is just getting a little too obsessed with this pairing?
