Defensive Line (Need: Pressing)

I’m starting to feel like Dontari Poe will not be re-signed to this team. He hasn’t been the same player since his back injury, and I don’t see the Chiefs matching offers of other teams. I gave some suggestions of how KC could replace Poe this year. A couple of those players are on this list.

Current Prospects:

Off The Board:

Outside Linebacker (Need: None)

This is a talented group of players that just needs to be ironed out. Dee Ford came on at just the right time. Now the coaches must figure out how to get the most out of them. Having Victor Ochi and Dadi Nicolas already on the roster also helps from the prospect angle.

Current Prospects:

  • Charles Harris (Missouri – 1st round: Scouting Report)
  • Derek Rivers (Youngstown State – 5th round)
  • Karter Schult (Northern Iowa – 5th round)
  • Bryan Cox (Florida – 6th round)
  • Dylan Donahue (West Georgia – 7th round)
  • Darius English (South Carolina – UDFA)

Inside Linebacker (Need: None)

I know some people are talking about getting someone to replace Derrick Johnson, but I’m confident that guy is already on the roster…Ramik Wilson. Young and talented group.

Cornerback (Need: Pressing)

Terrance Mitchell has been a great find, but this group needs more help. Today’s NFL almost requires three starting-caliber corners. This is a great year to be looking for a quality cornerback.

Safety (Need: Major)

Both Eric Berry and Daniel Sorensen are still free agents at the moment. I’ve talked about how the Chiefs could get Berry under contract, but until that happens, this is a huge need.

Special Teams (Need: Major)

Cairo Santos has yet to be re-signed, but the rest of the Chiefs Special Teams trio is under wraps. However, Santos has talked about being ready to return to KC in 2017.
