The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t drafted a quarterback in the first round since 1983. An anonymous executive is adding to the speculation of it happening this year by saying that Deshaun Watson is best suited to play for Kansas City.

Man, wouldn’t that be great? Years of suffering through either bad quarterbacks or just playing mediocre football with castoffs from other teams, and the Chiefs finally land a big timer like Deshaun Watson.

Listen to all of the “Deshaun Watson to the Chiefs” in mock draft talk that you want, but I’m not buying it.

I still think Watson will go in at least the top ten just due to his name alone. The kid won a National Championship this past season, went to the big game the year prior, and has been a Heisman Trophy finalist the past two years. There’s no way he’s falling to pick 27.

According to an article from Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com, an anonymous executive appears to think that the KC Chiefs are the best fit for the young quarterback.

More from KC Kingdom

"“He’s a great fit in Kansas City. The system already incorporates zone-read concepts, heavy use of the tight end and RPOs (run-pass option). Watson excels on those quick seam routes and pop passes and he’d be surrounded by a staff that knows how to develop a quarterback. He could sit behind Alex Smith for a year or two and then take over.”"

While this is great and all, it means nothing. The other executives listed teams that will be on the clock long before the KC Chiefs (49ers, Cardinals to name the early ones), and that means a trade would have to happen.

That’s just not something the Chiefs have done in the past few drafts and them trading to move that far up just doesn’t seem realistic to me.

We heard rumors of them wanting to trade up to snag Paxton Lynch in last year’s draft, but those pesky Denver Broncos beat them to it. If those rumors were true, perhaps the Chiefs will trade up for the right quarterback.

Deshaun Watson is the biggest name in this year’s draft and it’s just hard to imagine a guy like that falling to the end of the first round, let alone the second round. Perhaps something at the Combine will shape his draft stock more, but for the time being, I see no way in hell that the Kansas City Chiefs get Deshaun Watson in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Obviously I hope I’m wrong. I’d love to see this kid in Chiefs red for the next decade or so.

What do you think, Chiefs Kingdom? Is there any chance that Deshaun Watson falls to pick 27? Would you be okay with the team giving up some big draft picks to trade up and select him earlier on?
