The Kansas City Royals will have a tough decision to make when it comes to who’s going to start at second base for them come Opening Day.

It’s nice that the Royals actually have some decent options to put at second base, which didn’t really seem to be the case in seasons prior.

In my personal opinion – I feel like Whit Merrifield is the best option for the job. He was the best hitter out of the four mentioned above and showed the most potential defensively, even as a rookie.

Cuthbert will likely be a designated hitter and spend time relieving Moustakas at third base, so I don’t see him spending a ton of time at second.

Colon is a longshot to win the job, but mainly because he just hasn’t seemed to really gel well with the team during the regular season. He’s been a confusing piece in the Royals puzzle.

Mondesi is someone that I hope the Royals handle the right way. By that I mean that I hope he’s sent to Omaha to perfect his craft of hitting before being thrown into a starting position that isn’t his first choice.

Mondesi will be a great shortstop once Esky’s time is up, and I don’t want the Royals to rush him into another role when something greater is waiting for him.

What do you think, Royals fans? Which one of these guys do you want to see win the second base job for the 2017 season?
