KU basketball recorded their ninth win this past Saturday, but not everything is going well with the team right now. Forward Carlton Bragg is currently suspended from playing due to being arrested last week on an assault charge.
Kansas Jayhawks sophomore forward Carlton Bragg Jr. was arrested on Friday after being accused of pushing a woman down a flight of stairs. Bragg pleaded not guilty to the charges, but his next court date is on December 27th.
For the time being, the forward has been suspended from playing in games, though Bill Self has reported that he is allowed to practice with the team until further notice.
Bragg was present for the game this past Saturday against the Nebraska Cornhuskers but was on the bench wearing street clothes.
Speaking of that game, the Jayhawks took down the Huskers at Allen Fieldhouse by a score of 89-72. Freshman Josh Jackson led the team in points with 17 with Svi Mykhailiuk coming in second with 15.
The win puts the Jayhawks at 9-1 on the season and they’ve yet to lose since their season opener when they fell to the Indiana Hoosiers in Hawaii.
KU is currently ranked third in the polls, just behind Villanova and UCLA, both of whom are undefeated so far this season.

Obviously, we won’t know a whole lot more on this for a few more weeks, but if Bragg is found guilty of these charges, his career at Kansas very well could be over.

We’ve seen college athletes get dismissed from their teams due to similar situations and end up getting a second chance elsewhere (usually a smaller, lesser-known school). That could be what KU basketball program decides to do in this situation.
The Jayhawks did fine without Bragg on their team, which was good to see because it might be awhile before the team sees him back in action again.
