The Kansas City Chiefs are a boring team in the NFL, but that’s okay. They continue to win in spite of being boring, and winning makes the world go around.

Ever wonder why the national media ignores the Kansas City Chiefs time and time again? Well, I have a theory.

That theory is that the Kansas City Chiefs are actually a really boring team and that’s why they’re gipped out of primetime games and national coverage in general. Notice that the Chiefs tend to only get one game in the bright lights every year and those are rarely at home.

Now this year the Chiefs do have two primetime games at Arrowhead, but they were one of the few teams to not have a Monday Night Football appearance in 2016.

While it can be frustrating at times for the Chiefs to be jilted time and time again, fans really shouldn’t care. This team is 6-2 at the half way mark of the season and continue to find ways to win football games.

A lot of this has come to the forefront due to the battle in the AFC West. The Chiefs are currently TECHNICALLY in second place in the division due to having a bye already, but they already beat the Oakland Raiders, who sit in first at 7-2.

With the Raiders “being good again”, people are all over that bandwagon. It’s all about “Oakland this and Oakland that” while the Chiefs are sitting in the background forgotten about.

Analysts tend to forget that one of the Raiders’ two losses came against the Chiefs in week five. Oakland is an exciting young team filled with talented youngsters who are going to change the direction of that franchise. That’s why they’re shoved down our throats each and every week.

Kansas City, on the other hand, is filled with boring players. Were it not for Travis Kelce throwing a towel at a referee on Sunday, would anyone have known anything about their game against the Jaguars? Probably not.

Casual NFL fans could probably only name Kelce, Alex Smith (who is boring), Jamaal Charles (who is on injured reserve), Justin Houston (hasn’t played a snap all season), Jeremy Maclin, and maybe Spencer Ware for fantasy football purposes.

That’s because the KC Chiefs are a boring team in a smaller market.

If the Kansas City Chiefs want respect from the NFL and the national media, then they have to keep winning and make people notice. In the meantime, we here in Kansas City will continue to enjoy the quiet success. We’re all boring people after all.
