The Chiefs were VERY fortunate to leave Arrowhead Stadium with a victory on Sunday. This was a sloppy game for both the offense and the defense, but they were lucky to be playing against the dreadful Jacksonville Jaguars.

Any other team would have blown Kansas City out on Sunday. It would have easily been a repeat of that awful game against the Steelers on Sunday night last month.

Instead, they caught a break by getting to host the Jaguars, who are a dumpster fire. Bortles threw a horrible interception, and Chris Ivory, T.J. Yeldon, and Bryan Walters all fumbled the football, which gave the Chiefs the football back on all three of those mistakes.

Three of those turnovers led to Chiefs points and they got 13 total points there. That accounts for all but six points, which is just another example of how bad of a team Jacksonville is.

Another huge moment for Kansas City was when Jaguars kicker Jason Myers missed a field goal attempt from 54 yards out. Had Myers connected there, Jacksonville could have likely kicked a game winning field goal at the end of the game instead.

This wasn’t a good Chiefs win, it was a bad Jaguars loss. Be thankful that the Chiefs got to play a horrible team this week because otherwise, this team would have probably been 5-3 right now and out of the AFC West division hunt.

At the end of the day, this was a terrible game, but the Chiefs had tons of injuries in this one. Alex Smith and Spencer Ware were ruled out before the game, Jeremy Maclin injured his groin early on and didn’t return, and Travis Kelce got ejected.

That meant a backup was in at the quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and tight end position. Not to mention Parker Ehinger was out as well.

So injuries played a factor for sure, but man, I’ve never been more ecstatic about Alex Smith retuning to action for the KC Chiefs. Foles put him being ready to be the team’s starter to rest and there should be absolutely no quarterback controversy talk after that dreadful performance.

Next week the Chiefs hit the road to face the Carolina Panthers on their home turf. It will be a tough game for sure and Kansas City is going to have to actually game plan for that one.
