KC Chiefs: Jamaal Charles Placed on Injured Reserve
The KC Chiefs suffered a devastating blow on Tuesday when it was announced that running back Jamaal Charles was being placed on injured reserve.
The Kansas City Chiefs haven’t had injuries go their way much this season. The latest blow to the team is that all-time rushing yards leader Jamaal Charles has been placed on injured reserve.
Charles tore his ACL in Kansas City’s week five game last season and missed the entire season. That included the postseason as well.
This year, Charles was activated before the Sunday Night Football game in Pittsburgh and suited up for that game at Heinz Field. He rushed for seven yards in that game.
The following game, Charles saw more action against the Raiders, rushing for 33 yards off of nine carries and making it into the end zone once.
That would be it for Charles, as he missed the two games afterwards. It was announced that he’d be visiting Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday, and that was when Field Yates broke the news on Twitter.
Obviously this is horrible news for Kansas City Chiefs fans, but it’s even worse for the future at the running back position.

Spencer Ware got hurt in last week’s game and now Charles won’t be able to suit up again this season. The Chiefs did sign Bishop Sankey off the Patriots’ practice squad on Tuesday, which kind of paved the way for some bad news about to surface about Jamaal Charles.
Charles’ Chiefs career, should this be the end of his time in Kansas City, has been an impressive one. He leads the team in rushing yards with 7,260 and 43 rushing touchdowns.
He’s an easy vote for the Chiefs Hall of Fame once he decides to hang the cleats up, and everybody in Chiefs Kingdom will forever appreciate what Jamaal Charles did for this team.
My personal favorite memory of Jamaal Charles was when he went off in Oakland during the 2013 season for five total touchdowns. He’s always owned the Oakland Raiders and that was something that Chiefs fans always took a great pride in.
As for what happens next at the running back position for the KC Chiefs, it’s likely that Charcandrick West will get the start. West has been in a similar position before and did pretty well.

This Chiefs team has overcome big injuries in the past, but it’s definitely disappointing to hear this news and to realize that Jamaal Charles won’t be contributing this year. Hell, his Kansas City career might even be over.
We obviously wish Jamaal a speedy recovery though, whatever happens with him and this team down the road. Get well, Jamaal!
