The Kansas City Chiefs went into Indianapolis this week and put a beating on the Colts.  It was a physical game that saw multiple injuries, but the Chiefs still dominated.

The Kansas City Chiefs continued their winning streak this week by beating on the Indianapolis Colts.  This game was being billed by many as a rematch of the 2013 Wild Card game where the Chiefs gave up a big comeback to the Colts.  However, this game couldn’t have been any further from that result.  Kansas City was clearly the better team from the onset of the game.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Chiefs though.  Over the course of the game, starting quarterback Alex Smith went into concussion protocol twice.  Smith was hit in the helmet on questionable plays twice…neither play was flagged.  Nick Foles came on in relief and played a pretty solid game.

Alex Smith was joined on the list of injuries by starting running back Spencer Ware and starting guard Parker Ehinger.  Ware was replaced by Charcandrick West while Ehinger was relieved by Zach Fulton.  Despite the multiple injuries, the Chiefs were still a much better squad.

Defense Steps Up

Many Chiefs fans are going to be excited about the performance of the offense today, but the defense was the real key.  The KC defenders harassed Andrew Luck all day and kept the Colts offense in check.  Dee Ford threw some mud in the eyes of critics as he racked up four sacks.  The Chiefs also put a lot of hits on Andrew Luck, which clearly affected his decision making.

The Chiefs defense also did a great job of forcing and influencing fumbles.  Though the Chiefs only recovered one of the fumbles, the ball popping out is always good for the defense.  On top of that, Phillip Gaines grabbed himself an interception on a pass he read the whole way.

More from KC Kingdom

What most Kansas City Chiefs fans will remember this week is the passing game.  Between Alex Smith and Nick Foles, the Chiefs racked up 334 yards passing and 3 touchdowns.  That is incredibly impressive when you factor in all the injuries KC dealt with.  It was definitely a fun game for Chiefs fans to watch.

Wide receivers Jeremy Maclin and Tyreek Hill both found the endzone, Hill doing it virtually uncovered.  Tight end Travis Kelce also added to the mix with a trip to the endzone.  For Hill and Kelce, it was a big day on the stat sheets.  Travis Kelce put up 100 yards while Hill added 98.  It was something Chiefs fans weren’t used to with all of the big plays.
