Good: Offensive Line and the Run Game

After four pretty rough games, the KC Chiefs offensive line came through and protected Alex Smith. Smith had been sacked 13 times in the last four games and the Oakland pass rush was only able to put him on the ground once.

The line did a great job protecting Smith and also allowing the run game to do its thing.

The Chiefs running backs were able to run the ball 40 times for 183 yards and three touchdowns. Ware had his big day (as mentioned above), Jamaal Charles had a decent day with a touchdown, and even Dontari Poe was able to bulldoze his way into the end zone for a score.

On a gross, rainy day in Oakland, it was nice to see Alex Smith’s all white uniform so crisp and clean after the game. He went untouched for pretty much most of the game, and a huge part of that is in thanks to the offensive line doing their job.

The run game was great as well and the offensive line helped there too. That’s why I put these two together.

Hopefully Andy Reid sees that the running game worked so well and sticks with it down the stretch. Good things happen when the Chiefs run the football.
