K-State football now sits at 3-2 on the year. It’s still kind of a bittersweet moment though because they really should be 4-1. Regardless, they’re 3-2 total and have a 1-1 record in Big 12 play.

This was a must-win game for K-State football and they pulled through. The defense was getting burned right and left in the first half, but settled in to only allow ten points in the second half.

Patrick Mahomes is something else. The guy threw for 504 yards on 62 passing attempts (completing 45 of them) and throwing for two scores. He also rushed for three.

The Wildcats had no answer for stopping Mahomes early on, but they were able to pick him off in the first quarter and take it all the way back for a touchdown. It was a great early confidence booster for the defense in the first quarter, but the Red Raiders rolled on.

There was also Pringle’s huge punt return for a touchdown, which continued to display K-State having an impressive special teams unit. Matthew McCrane made all of his field goals as well.

The offense could still use some work, but they did put up several touchdowns and came through when needed.

I’m not going to be too difficult on the defense because Texas Tech is an offensive power like none other. They’ve been a high-scoring, fast-paced offense for years now and they showed that to all of Manhattan early and often in this game.

Next up for the Wildcats: An 11 AM kickoff in Norman against the Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners have greatly disappointed this year, but they are still ranked and they still have a pretty good offense. Their defense is another story though… Let’s hope this K-State offense can pick it up and score early on next week.

As always, go Wildcats!
