Kansas City Chiefs Sign Linebacker Sio Moore Release Dezman Moses
By Charles Lam
The Kansas City Chiefs made a move today. The Chiefs signed a linebacker, Sio Moore and released linebacker, Dezman Moses. This isn’t a big signing but losing Moses might hurt.
Sio Moore has played in the NFL since 2013. The linebacker played for the Oakland Raiders and the Indianapolis Colts. He’s accumulated 7.5 sacks, 134 tackles and two forced fumbles during his three-plus NFL seasons.
Moore’s best season came two years ago during the 2014 season for the Raiders. He compiled 67 tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble and a defended pass. Those aren’t the greatest numbers but they will work for a guy who started 11 games for the Raiders a couple of seasons ago.
KC Chiefs fans might remember Moore when he played for the Raiders. In a game against the Chiefs, Moore and a fellow teammate celebrated behind the Chiefs’ line of scrimmage. Kansas City quickly snapped the ball catching both Raiders players offsides.
Here’s video evidence of the bone headed play.
This is the kind of player the Kansas City Chiefs signed today. This could become a bad signing in the not so distant future.
The Kansas City Chiefs decided to release linebacker Dezman Moses for this guy. Moses impressed me during the preseason. He made his presence felt early and often during the preseason games. I thought he had a good chance to see regular season action but I was wrong just like I was on KeiVarae Russell.
Moses appeared in 29 regular season games for the Kansas City Chiefs. Moses started his career with the Green Bay Packers. His best season of his career came in Green Bay.

He appeared in 16 games and start six for the Packers adding up 12 tackles, four sacks, two passes defended and one forced fumble. He appeared in 16 games and start six for the Packers adding up 12 tackles, four sacks, two passes defended and one forced fumble.
During his 29 games appeared for the Chiefs, Moses never started a game. He added five tackles and three assists for Kansas City. Not good numbers but I saw upside during the preseason this year.
I’m not the only one to see potential in Moses. The Kansas City Chiefs also saw Moses’ potential a few short months ago.
Back in mid-August, Kansas City Chiefs beat reporter for ESPN, Adam Teicher, said Moses was practicing with the first team offense.
Here’s one of the reasons why he played with the ones for a while.
I know this is from preseason but these types of plays continued to happen throughout the preseason. He looked good even against the opposing team’s starting offense.
I’m sure Moore made some plays in the preseason and the regular season but I haven’t seen him play and what I’ve seen in Moses has been good. However, Moore does have substantially more regular season game action under his belt.
Maybe the Kansas City Chiefs will use Moore in a game or two to give Derrick Johnson and Justin March-Lillard a break. Only time will tell if Sio Moore becomes a factor for the Chiefs.
