Kansas City Chiefs: Same Old Team From Years Past

After an embarrassing outing on Sunday Night Football, does anyone still believe that this Kansas City Chiefs team can make it deep into the playoffs? I sure don’t.

Before Sunday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, I just had this bad feeling that this would be yet another terrible game for the KC Chiefs. They’ve been pretty bad in primetime and it just seemed like a game they’d be destined to lose.

This was supposed to be a game that showed the Kansas City Chiefs might be for real this year. Instead, they laid an egg throughout most of the game and looked horrible on practically every side of the ball.

At this point, it’s tough to see this team winning the division. The Broncos are 4-0, the Raiders are 3-1, and the Chiefs, at 2-2, are already having to play catch up. I understand that it’s early in the season, but falling behind early on isn’t a good sign.

This Chiefs offense can’t do anything. They got two touchdowns near the end of the game, but otherwise, looked pathetic. The Steelers defense isn’t even good! This Chiefs offense should have been able to move the ball against Pittsburgh, but couldn’t. That’s not good.

More from KC Kingdom

The defense tried their best, but were gassed early on  and weren’t effective. This game was just really, really bad.

The good news is that things get easier from here. The Kansas City Chiefs now head into the bye week at 2-2, then head to Oakland. After that, they’ll get the Saints at home, travel to Indy, and then host the Jaguars. All three of those teams are 1-3 right now and are not trending upward at all.

I would say all three of those teams have bad defenses, but Pittsburgh did too, and we saw how well that went for Kansas City. Not.

I hate to say it, but this game could have been an early nail in the coffin for the KC Chiefs. They’ve displayed their weaknesses early on, and the other teams are taking note.

The coaching was bad against the Steelers, the offense was horrendous, the defense was awful, and special teams weren’t so special. It was just a bad, bad, bad game that we should all try to put behind us and never speak of again.

Unfortunately, the Steelers are a playoff caliber team though, and the Chiefs will have to play (and beat) playoff caliber teams if they want to make a run to the Super Bowl. I just don’t see that happening with how bad this offense is playing.

Next: Predicting Each Game of 2016

Not sure if it’s Alex Smith, the play calling, the receivers not clicking or what, but something has to change. Nothing is working on offense, and it’s time for another game plan after the much needed bye week.

If not… This could be a long season for the Kansas City Chiefs.
