The other issue at hand here is the new limit on space for tailgating.  The Kansas City Chiefs have put lines around the parking spaces at Arrowhead Stadium that essentially form an 8 ft box behind the parking space for tailgating.  This has also drawn the ire of many fans who believe that this is restricting the time-honored tradition of tailgating at Arrowhead Stadium.

For their part, the Chiefs deny that is the goal, rather referring again to the parking issue.  Mark Donovan explained that limiting the space for tailgating limits congestion in the parking lot, which will allow drivers to get to open spots quicker, not to mention it will make it easier for emergency vehicles to move about.

What does that mean for fans out there tailgating?  Well, really not all that much.  Remember that car of 2-4 I mentioned earlier?  Well, the truth is that that same carload doesn’t need a huge space to tailgate.  If you have a bigger group than that, then you probably also have more cars…park together and combine your spaces guys.

Realistically, there is nothing that Mark Donovan said that doesn’t make perfect sense.  Chiefs fans have been screaming for years that the parking situation needs to be fixed.  Well, answers to big problems like that are rarely ever cheap or convenient.  The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to fix a major problem, and it comes with some inconveniences.

However, if we stop and really think about those inconveniences, we can see that they really aren’t that big a deal.  They also make a lot of sense in the big picture.  So before you start picketing out in front of 1 Arrowhead Drive, just stop and think about how this will really affect your plans.
