This post probably won’t make me the most popular person in the world, but hey… Sometimes the truth hurts.

As much as it pains me to say this, I don’t think the Kansas City Royals have the ability to get back into the playoffs this year.

More from KC Kingdom

Their starting pitching is horrendous and the amount of injuries they’ve had to deal with is a huge setback for the World Series champs. Sure, guys like Whit Merrifield and Cuthbert have stepped up in the absence of the injured, but they’re not enough to help this team contend down the stretch.

Another reason that I didn’t list, but is entirely true is that the Royals won’t make the playoffs because the American League Central is much tougher this year than last!

The Royals slumped heavily last September and still won the division by over ten games. This year, the Indians have made it apparent that they’re in it to win it, currently leading the AL Central by seven games.

The Tigers have jumped back up too, after having a down year in 2015.

Hell, the only team not to be a contender this season is the Twins, and they were the Royals’ biggest competitor in the division last year!

So, while it sucks to hear it, Royals nation, the Kansas City Royals just aren’t poised to make it to their third consecutive postseason.

Hey, at least I was wrong about this one.
