The polls close June 30th. Time is running out quickly to vote for your favorite Kansas City Royals players. Some players lead their respective categories while others trail. It’s time to vote like you never have before.

Fans can vote here for every position on the diamond five times per day for each position. The best looking roster would be all Kansas City Royals starters. That doesn’t seem likely due to some lackluster seasons guys are having.

Thankfully a few Kansas City Royals should get to start the All-Star game in San Diego on July 12th. They are Salvador Perez at catcher and Eric Hosmer at first base. Lorenzo Cain currently sits fourth overall in the outfield vote just one spot away from starting.

If I could, I would vote Salvador Perez for President of the United States come November. Unfortunately, he isn’t eligible for my vote on many levels. Darn, I guess I’ll have to settle for an All-Star vote instead.

Perez leads all eligible vote receivers by a lot. He’s received 3,754,594 votes as of the latest update. He’s received more than 800,000 more votes than Mike Trout.

Here’s a chart showing both American League and National league voting recipients.

Perez deserves these votes. He’s having the best season of his career numbers wise. He’s slashed .293/.327/.521 for the Royals. He’s hit 12 home runs, 15 doubles and two triples for the “Boys in Blue” through Sunday.

His defensive numbers are even better. Perez threw out 20 base runners through 60 games for a 53 caught stealing percentage. He also has 33 assists and saved nine runs on defense as well.

The dashing Eric Hosmer leads all first baseman in votes. He’s tallied 2,638,022 votes. I’m sure many of these votes are from women voting on his good looks alone (ha ha).

In all seriousness, Homser’s put up good numbers for the Kansas City Royals this season. He’s slashed .310/.368/.498. through 74 games. He’s got 12 home runs, 15 doubles, and one triple and 46 runs batted in this year.

Hosmer has played better defense than his numbers show. He’s got 31 assists and four errors as a first baseman this season. His defensive runs saved number is negative four.

The stat numbers can’t account for is how many possible errors he has saved guys like Alcides Escobar (Esky). It seems every game that Hosmer bails out Esky with a wonderful pick at first base saving Esky an error. Voters know how valuable Hosmer is at first base and that’s why he leads the category by a wide margin over Miguel Cabrera.

Cain needs a lot of votes and fast. He’s a little less than 100,000 votes away from overtaking Mookie Betts of the Boston Red Sox for a starting outfield spot for the American League All-Star team.

Cain’s turned his numbers around after a slow start to the season. He’s slashed .288/.334/.417 for the Kansas City Royals through Sunday. He’s racked up eight home runs and 12 doubles off of 80 hits. He’s driven in 38 runners and scored 37 runs.

His defense is still great as well. He’s got nine defensive runs saved and two outfield assists. Unfortunately, he has three errors in the outfield. But that’s okay when he makes plays like this.

The Kansas City Royals should be represented well in this years All-Star game. Hopefully come July 1st Kansas City will have three guys in the starting lineup for Ned Yost and the American League team.
