It’s still early into the 2016 season, but the KC Royals have already begun to show that grit that made them so much fun to watch last year.

The Royals won three games in comeback fashion against the White Sox this past weekend, which just shows that this is still the team to beat in the American League Central. If another team wants to win the division crown, they’ll have to go through Kansas City first.

The most likely candidate to do that at the moment is Cleveland. They have the pitching and offense to be a solid MLB team and currently sit a game and a half back of the Royals in the division. They did, however, win the first series two games to one.

The Chicago White Sox could be a contender to win the division this season, but have dropped off significantly over the past few weeks. Their bullpen has been atrocious, causing them to be swept by the Royals in a huge series.

Detroit is a team that used to own the AL Central, but they’re now handcuffed to older players and don’t seem to be making much progress this year. They’re still not as bad as Minnesota though.

The Twins are 20 games under .500 and look helpless this year. They were a potential Cinderella team last year, but it’s evident that won’t be occurring again in 2016 for the Twins. Their defense, pitching, just everything has looked bad for Minnesota.

It’s still obviously very early, but the way the Kansas City Royals have been playing lately shows that they could be primed to win their second straight division title in 2016.
