Today’s KC Royals news is focused on the Royals 8-4 victory over the Boston Red Sox last night.

On Sunday, the KC Royals won a game. Yesterday, made it two in a row. If they win today, at least the first game, they’ll be on a winning streak. Does anyone remember what that feels like?

Things haven’t been easy for the KC Royals over the past few weeks, but maybe they’re finally starting to figure things out.

Last night they tallied 11 hits on the night and both Eric Hosmer and Paulo Orlando went deep for the Royals. The rest of the runs scored on timely, frenzied hitting.

Perhaps the most unheralded play of the night came from Royals’ second baseman Omar Infante. With one out and Salvador Perez on first base, Infante bunted up the third base line. Koji Uehara throw the ball into right field and Perez scored all the way from first base.

THAT…is Royals baseball. At least, the brand they’ve played over the past couple of seasons.

They kept pressure on the defense and they took advantage of the other team’s mistakes. Maybe the rain out washed away all of the bad energy.

Not everything is rainbows and butterflies. The Royals have to find a way to get Kendrys Morales and Alex Gordon rolling. They are batting .196 and .215 respectively. They’re also batting back-to-back in the four and five spots in the lineup.

Yordano Ventura even looked like he might live up to his nickname through the first five innings of the game. He did only walk one batter in spite of the seven hits and four earned runs he allowed.

After allowing a lead-off single to Dustin Pedroia, Ventura got Xander Bogaerts and David Ortiz to pop out. That’s when the old Ventura showed up. He hit Hanley Ramirez and gave up a three-run shot to Travis Shaw.

The bullpen came in and didn’t allow a run. Wade Davis didn’t get a change to redeem himself after his blown save on Sunday. In spite of the fact that he hadn’t allowed a run to start the season until Sunday, he just hasn’t had quite the same stuff this season.

Will the Royals add two more wins to the win/loss column later today? Only time will tell. At least they have their two most consistent pitchers going for them tomorrow.
