KC Chiefs News: Alex Smith and the AFC West
KC Chiefs news consists of the man under center in Alex Smith and about how this could be the year for the Kansas City Chiefs to contend for the AFC West title.
The KC Chiefs traded for Alex Smith during the 2013 offseason and since then, he’s gone 30-16 as a starter. He might not be an elite quarterback who can win you games on his own, but he’s a good quarterback who takes care of the football and doesn’t lose you games.
While Smith is a hotly debated topic amongst Chiefs fans, I’m sure a lot of other teams would kill to have a quarterback like Smith. The Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles traded a crap load of draft picks just to get their possible franchise quarterback, and it just goes to show how important it is to have a reliable signal caller.
Smith is a good quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs to have, as the AFC West is filled with stiff competition. The Broncos are just coming off a Super Bowl victory, the Raiders are steadily improving, and the Chargers have one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

Is this the season that the Chiefs could finally win the AFC West though? The Broncos took a step back this offseason, and the Raiders haven’t made it to the playoffs since the 2002 season. It could be a telling year for the Kansas City Chiefs, and the team will really need to take strides this year to make sure that they’re the ones at the top of the West by seasons end.
